Why To Go For Organic Crib Mattress?

Your baby is the most important to you, right? As a parent, you always strive to give him the best of everything. It is up to you to take proper care of your baby so that he grows well. Providing your baby with the proper environment is very essential thus. Baby sleep most of the time during their first few months of growth and this is why you should make your baby’s sleeping needs your priority.

Health. Babies spend a good deal of time asleep in their cribs. This is especially true if you intend for your child to spend the night in his cot rather than in bed with you. Even if you co-sleep initially, chances are your child will spend a good part of the day napping, and later on playing, inside his crib. An Organic Baby Mattress is healthier than one made of synthetic materials because it contains no harmful chemicals that will out-gas or release over time. Since these chemicals have been linked to poor health and developmental problems in children, it’s best to keep your baby away from them.

An adequate provision for ventilation. In the past, people liked to keep their mattresses fresh by airing them every few days or so. For those who don’t have the space or time to take out a mattress and leave it in strong natural sunlight for a couple of hours, the next best thing are a system of small air vents or pockets that allow air to circulate in the mattress.

You have a new baby on the way, congratulations! It is a joyous time, but you don’t need the added stress and hassle of buying a suitable baby mattress. So what should you do? Go to the store and buy the cheapest crib mattress you can find? This is not the correct approach.

There are several things you should think about when deciding on furniture for the baby’s room. Recycling is a wonderful thing for the earth, and lots of parents want vintage furniture for the baby’s room. First make sure that you check the safety of vintage pieces. Look at consumer websites for any recalls. Additionally, you will want to ensure that you eliminate all paint from the pieces. This is very important due to lead paint which was banned in 1977. Whether or not the piece is newer, you can’t be sure if some repainted it and with what type of paint. You should also be cautious of furniture made from medium density fiberboard as it off-gasses formaldehyde which can cause asthma.

A crib mattress made of all-natural materials makes sense because we spend a good deal of our time sleeping and we don’t want to be breathing toxic fumes while we sleep. An example of a natural material used mattresses is coir. Coir is a natural coconut fiber that is soft and durable. A common mattress cover is cotton batting and there are organic cotton batting available. These materials are comfortable and because they are all natural, and you can be sure that your baby is not breathing in toxic fumes. It is a reassuring thought for all parents.

Affordable. Being a parent is not cheap, so it’s always a priority to get value for your money. A good crib mattress shouldn’t cost much more than $300, and you can get a good one for much less. After all, getting the best doesn’t mean breaking your budget.

I am not going to go into great detail on all the technical stuff here, my point is that providing an organic baby mattress for your infant has never been easier so why continue to make the same un-informed choices so many others have in the past and are still doing? Do the research. There are literally dozens of manufactures now producing quality organic baby mattresses. And if we as parents continue to demand safer, healthier and natural products for our babies other manufactures will climb aboard and things will only get safer for our children.
